Gretchen St. Lawrence
My husband and I retired to a home in the wooded hills of Floyd, Virginia in 2006. After a lifetime of art pursuits, I then began several classes in painting in Floyd and ended up falling in love with pastels. My family asked me to do portraits of their cats and I have never looked back from that assignment. I continue to create pet portraits, along with landscapes, wildlife and renderings of our many beloved barns. I am a founding member of the Floyd Artists Association and deliver pastel classes at the gallery, at the Floyd Center for the Arts and in my home studio. I also give private lessons, including drawing instruction for children.
